Hero's Arms
Hero's Arms Instructions
It's easy to get used to the keys / control scheme of Hero's Arms. For basic movement, just use the W, A, S, and D keys. Alternatively, you can use the arrow keys to move your character from one spot to another. On the other hand, the Z or N button is for interacting with NPCs and attacking enemies. The X or M keys is for using your the magical attacks of your chosen weapon. Should you need to pause the game for some reason, all you need to do is press Space Bar and it will also bring up the Menu. Just press it again and you should be back in the game.
Hero's Arms Walkthrough
Bringing back the good-old Zelda-like experience and adventure, Hero's Arms did an excellent job of bring back the magic brought by the said 80's game. The designers and developers have made it very retro-styled and hardcore fans of RPG games will surely love this. The length of the game is very RPG-ish, too. If you want to complete everything - get all of the upgrades and achievements, defeat every enemy you encounter, etc., that would take about 20 to 25 hours. On the other hand, if you just want to beat it in your first run, 10 to 15 hours or so should do. Anyway, enough talk, let's get down to business. Right below, I will show you some very important tips and tricks that you should keep in mind all the time.
Skills And Upgrades
Of all the skill upgrades available, I find the Weapon Skill to be the MOST useful. After all, it increases your damage output, which allows you to finish your opponents faster than you normally would. HOWEVER, while damage output is very important, it is NOT the whole shebang. You also need to pay attention to Health Skills and Magic Skills upgrade. Magic Skills work 2-fold: they decrease the cost for casting magic while increasing the damage they deal as well. The Health Skills, on the other hand, decreases the damage you take. And here's a BONUS: each time you upgrade this skill, you HP is filled.
Some Tips And Reminders
As I have said, each time you upgrade your Health Skill, it fills your health. With that in mind, always consider upgrading this skill before you approach and duke it out with a boss. If your EXP is not yet enough for the upgrade, you may want to go around and kill random enemies to grab that upgrade. Do so and you will be in full health, ready to battle the boss before you.
As for upgrading your strength, magic, and life, you don't have to do it all at once. There are many ways to take on this upgrade issue, BUT I highly recommend that you focus on strength and life for the earlier parts. Now, when your magic bar is huge enough, then start upgrading your Magic Skills. From my experience, your magic bar should be large enough when you step into World 2 - Castle 2.
Equipment
Here's a brief rundown of the most popular equipments in the game as well as whet they can do for you. Swords don't only slash down enemies, they can also slash bushes. Boomeraxes, which is a hybrid of boomerang and axes, let's you flip and trigger switches. Staffs, on the other hand, come handy for extinguishing fire. Shields are good NOT just for stopping projectiles or missiles. They also come very handy when it comes to reflecting those attacks. You can even absorb them as MP. Just make sure you are NOT attacking when you are about to get hit. Last BUT definitely not the least, armor reduces the damage you take. The more armor you have, the beefier and the tankier you get.
